How Memes Shape Modern Communication

Made by: Sophia and Beatrice

This creative project is a meme series that shows how memes influence the way people communicate about real topics. I chose memes because they are fast, visual, and easy to share, which makes the one of the most common forms of communication online. Each meme highlights a different part of modern conversation, including politics, social media culture, expression of emotions, and how we read media. Memes may be funny, but they also shape/influence how we interpret information, react to events, and even talk to people. In our blog, we have focused on how communication works beyond traditional writing, and memes are a perfect example of that change. They can make complicated ideas be more understandable, spread quickly, and create humor around an otherwise serious idea. Our goal was to show that memes can be more than entertainment. They are a real part of how society communicates today.

Point: Politics gets simplified into memes, and people respond to those more than real information.

Point: People learn through social media meme summaries instead of the real news.

Point: Memes poke fun at contradictions in online authenticity.

Point: Memes have become emotional language.

Point: Memes can replace actual information sources.
